About CourseVerdict

CourseVerdict is an independent review site for online courses across every niche — AI, web development, design, business, languages and more. Instead of a single opinion or a polished marketing page, every review synthesises hundreds of real opinions collected from Hacker News, blogs and community forums, then publishes the score AI computes from them.

How AI does the review

  • Collects 40+ public mentions across Hacker News, independent blogs, GitHub Issues and product forums. Reddit and YouTube are excluded where the platforms block automated reading — this is disclosed on every review.
  • Filters affiliate-marketing posts and obvious astroturfing patterns before counting them. Every quote shown on a review page is a verified URL — nothing fabricated.
  • Scores five criteria (content, instructor, value, support, real-world applicability) using a Bayesian average that penalises small samples, plus a positivity multiplier that surfaces skewed distributions. Recent opinions get more weight than older ones.
  • Publishes the final score as-is. The editor-in-chief audits the citations, but never overrides the number. That's how the highest-commission partner on this site can still end up with the lowest rating in the catalog.

AI disclosure

Reviews are researched and scored by AI (Claude) and audited by an editor-in-chief before publishing. The role of the editor is to verify citations and catch errors, not to change the number AI computes. We do this so that you can read a digest of hundreds of opinions in a few minutes with a score that nobody had a commercial reason to inflate.

Affiliate disclosure

Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy a course via one of them, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate status does not influence which courses we cover or how we score them.
